Dinner Honoring Members & Legion Birthday
On March 15th, the Post honored our members with 50 or more years of continuous membership in the American Legion. We met to renew old aquaintances and have dinner at the Times Past Restaurant. Certificates honoring their many long years of commitment were presented to 10 members in attendance. An additional 27 certificates will be mailed to those members unable to attend. The American Legion's 90th Birthday was also honored.
Texas Hold'em / Charitable Gaming
Our 2009 Charitable Gaming Season will start this year with our first event on March 21st at the New Lafayette Club. We look forward to another year of successful events thanks to efforts of our many volunteers. If you would like to see how our Poker Tournaments run please feel free to attend any of our events. If you would like to help us run an event contact Larry Lohmeyer, leave him a message at the Post.
Your Year Round Shopping Can Benefit the Post
We recently completed an arrangement whereby Post Members and friends shopping at Schnucks Supermarkets will generate a payment equal to 3% of your purchase to the Post. This agreement will be in effect during the entire year with with no restriction on the days you can shop. We recently sent each member 2 cards and 3 key chain tags that can be used when you shop at Schnucks. Simply ask the cashier to swipe your card or key chain tag when you checkout.
If you shop at Schnucks please consider using one of these cards, they can be used by any family member of friend at any Schnucks. While this will not yield any direct benefit to you, the funds generated can become an important way to support your Post and programs to benefit veterans, If you have any questions, please contact the Post at 828-3641. Thank you for your consideration.
Concession Trailer Taco Sales
The Post has reviewed our Taco Trailer venture and has re-evalluated this program. With tough economic times, we found the food business, especially at leisure events, to be a tough market to master. With our limited manpower, the decision to direct our efforts elsewhere seems the best appproach. The trailer is currently for sale with an online vendor.
Post Everlasting
Since our last newsletter, we have lost the following longtime members;
Robert Angell, Paul Bartosik, and Bruce Williams.
